Induced voltage on our fan products is where an unwanted voltage is seen on the timer input electrical connection terminal which would ordinarily be dead, but a voltage is still seen by the fan. This causes the fan to run on rather than to shut off after the timer has finished counting down.
This induced voltage typically occurs when the wires for the 230v power and the timer trigger wire are in the same cable. The 230v supply wire induces via electromagnetic field which then creates a lower voltage in the timer conductor wire. This in turn triggers the timer to start and the fan to run and to continue running.
NOTE: It is recommended to run a separate wire to the T terminal in order to reduce the chance of induced/phantom voltage.
Warning. The following tasks must only be undertaken by a suitably qualified person.
A suitably qualified electrician should measure the voltage on the T terminal and if it is above 0 volts when the timer switch is open circuit, then they should use a separate cable to supply the switch wire to the product T terminal to see if that solves the issue.
