Heat pumps are typically named as follows:
- L = Air Source Heat Pump
- S = Ground Source Heat Pump
- W = Water Source Heat pump
- I = Internally Installed Unit
- A = Externally Installed Unit
- Number = kW rating under test conditions
- M = Single phase supply
- A = Three phase supply
- T = Three phase supply
- K = Compact units, integrated components
- H = High temperature heat pump
- U = High efficiency heat pumps
- R = Reversible – heating & cooling
- I = Inverter
- P = Propane
- S = WPM controller separate from heat pump
- E = WPM controller enclosed within heat pump
Example
LA 11MS L = Air source heat pump
A = Externally installed
11 = 11kW in specified test conditions
M = Single phase supply (mono-phase)
S = Separate WPM controller
