On the Edl200 & 270, Yes, the ducting can be taken vertically from the unit through the roof drawing air from outside. Ventilation terminals specifically designed for this are available from most ventilation outlets or plumbers merchants. Consideration should be given to installing condensation traps to the base of vertical sections to catch any moisture that may form.
Do not expel or draw in air from a loft space as it can cause heat losses and moisture issues in winter, and can result in lower efficiency operation in summer if air is too hot for the heat pump to use (attic spaces can get too hot in summer!)
However the EDL170 has only been tested and approved for use with horizontal ducting/termination.
The ducting and installation must be in accordance with manufactures instructions.
