Under no circumstances should wet or damp bricks be installed. If the bricks are found to be in this condition prior to install they should be returned to the wholesaler for replacement.
It is important that the energy cells (bricks) are dry when being installed because if they are installed when damp/wet, the resulting damage can cause the heater to be beyond repair.
When the storage heater is heating up, the moisture in the bricks would then seep out of the bricks and boil. This would then turn into steam and soak into the insulation. The insulation will then soften and can collapse. The steam can also damage the electronics within the storage heater. This can cause the user interface to stop working, and the PCB and/or controller can short circuit.
Lastly the moisture released from the bricks can also escape from the heater and form a puddle underneath the heater.
Please note that if wet or damp bricks are installed, and any damage is caused as a direct result of this, the heater is not covered under its guarantee.
